We’re slightly off the beaten track, and only a five-minute walk from what is arguably the most gorgeous beach on the island. You’ll also find that our guesthouse is very close to the other lovely sandy beaches around if you fancy a change of scenery while you sunbathe. If you’re in more of a mood to explore, take the short stroll to quiet Bants Carn village and soak up the island’s rich history. We also have a colourful garden and a conservatory that lets in plenty of sunlight, giving you more space to chill out and enjoy the scenery – take a look at our gallery
St. Mary’s is an island with a big heart and soul, so there’s plenty to see and do here whether you stay with us for a few nights or a fortnight. Many of the sights are walkable as the island’s about two and a half miles wide and just under two miles long. It’s also a good starting point for hopping around the other Isles of Scilly.
Not only do our guests enjoy the calmer atmosphere of being a little bit out of the way, which is always nice on a trip away, we run our own taxi service to get you in and out of Hugh Town, the main town centre with a cosier village feel and its own museum. There’s no other way to drive on the island, so if you want to give your feet a well-earned break after some sightseeing then just give us a call from wherever you are. We want you to feel like our guesthouse is a home away from home. Please feel free to come and go as you’d like, and a front door key is provided with your room key to use after we lock up in the evenings. You’ll find a real community spirit on the island, as well as the main amenities you’ll want to find while you’re on holiday such as a chemist, two banks, newsagents and a post office.
We’re also one of the few businesses here on St. Mary’s to accept credit and debit cards, so guests who arrive without cash on them don’t have to worry about it. The extra services we offer are there to make your holiday easier and nicer, because we’d expect the same whenever we travel.
are en-suite, designed so that you’ll feel relaxed as soon as you arrive, and they’re full of little personal touches and home comforts. We’ve put soft Egyptian cotton bed sheets and towels into every room, and while you’re unwinding you can access our complimentary Wi-Fi which is accessible throughout the guesthouse. Breakfast is served every morning and included in our prices, and we’re proud to say that we’ve won a Quality in Tourism award for the variety and high quality of our food – especially as we make each dish fresh each morning from scratch ourselves. Our selection of home-cooked breakfast options
made with locally-sourced ingredients will help you start your day off right, and you can often find the delicious scent of freshly-baked bread wafting through the air from our kitchen.
Between us we have a huge knowledge of the island, so if you want some ‘insider info’ then just ask. Both of us have plenty of little hints to make your visit feel more authentic and special, and we might come up with something to see or do that you’d never have thought of. Sam’s the ‘local girl’, and Paul has called ‘the islands’ his home for more than 20 years and loves it here – we really hope that you will too. Please come to either of us for tips on getting the most out of your stay
